Mr. Monk suffers from what is called obsessive-compulsive
disorder. This means that he is overly fastidious and is
plagued with countless phobias. However, the same disorder
makes him extremely observant, which is just what a detective
needs to be. As he says in the show, its a gift -- and a curse.
This show is really outstanding. Tony Shaloub, you're a
genius.
